‘Developers, interior designers’ partnership needed in real estate’

- From Nurudeen Oyewole, Lagos

Stakeholders in interior design and real estate development have reiterated the need for partnership that will make the real estate sector more vibrant in the country.

This was a major resolution at a meeting convened by an interior designing firm, IO Furniture, alongside other stakeholders in the industry in Lagos.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IO Furniture, Mrs Muni Shonibare, said the reality of today’s businesses and growth in property and real estate was for every stakeholder to engage in synergy of purpose.

“The industry is large enough to accommodate everyone. As interior designers, we can’t claim to know every aspect of the business. For instance, I may have a very poor judgement of how to value or estimate a parcel of land. On the other hand, the developers too need interior designers in giving finishing to completed properties meant to be sold to clients. It is a sort of symbiotic relationship that we are now advocating for others in the industry to key into,” Shonibare said.

Similarly, the Managing Director of PWANPLUS Business Concerns Ltd, Julius Oyedemi, said in the property and real estate sector, collaboration must always be a factor for cooperation.

He noted that as a developer, his firm would be willing to run a partnership with IO Furniture based on the need to complement each other in rendering services to clients.

The Chief Commercial Officer, IO Furniture, Akin Adebisi also explained that partnership within the sector will bring about a win-win solution for parties concerned. He said since customers are the industry kings, every stakeholder must strive to win their loyalty.
