Police nab apprentice over death of master, wife
The police in Ogun State have arrested one Okwudili Okoro over the death of his master and his wife.
The suspect was arrested following a report by one Joseph Nwagu at Sango Division that Azuibike Okoro, who was also the suspect’s elder brother and his wife, Jacinta Okoro, have been hacked to death by the suspect and one Kenneth who came from Sappon in Abeokuta to commit the crime.
“Upon his report, the DPO of Sango Division, SP Nasirudeen Oyedele, led detectives to the scene where the suspect was arrested but his accomplice escaped,” the state command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said.
Oyeyemi said on interrogation, the Ebonyi state born suspect claimed to have served his deceased elder brother for three years, and when it was time for him to be settled, his late brother would not carry out his wish.
“He further stated that when he realized that his brother was not ready to settle him, he contracted one Kenneth who is now on the run and they both bought two cutlasses, sharpened them and headed to his deceased elder brother’s house in Ijako.
“He said on getting there, they met the deceased eating with his wife and before he could utter a word, they descended heavily on them with the cutlasses and hacked them to death.”
The two corpses have been taken to the general hospital Ota for post mortem examination, Oyeyemi added.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID).
He equally directed that the escaped accomplice be hunted and brought to book within the shortest possible time.
