Buhari on rescue mission – Zangon Daura

- By Hamza Idris & Ibraheem Hamza Muhammad

A former Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura, said yesterday that Nigerians should rally behind President Muhammadu Buhari because he is on a rescue mission.

Zangon Daura said in an interview in Abuja, that those against Buhari’s second term move were entitled to their opinion, but quickly added that most of them had skeleton in their cupboards and therefore lived in fear.

He therefore called on Nigerians to ignore and support Buhari for a second term to accomplish his selfless task of salvaging the country.

“I was highly elated and I welcomed the news because, for a long time, I have not seen a much more charismatic leader like Muhammadu Buhari, who’s integrity, commitment to the country, his focus on whatever he intends or wants to do are all known to all of.

“I remember how the rested Drum magazine described him when he first came as a military head of state as ‘Deceptively Simple.’ Of all the people parading themselves or their candidates in different political parties as presidential aspirants, there is no better candidate like President Buhari because of his commitment, integrity, experience and love for law and order,” he said.

He said Buhari was not in the race for personal gains. “He is a man who has dedicated his life to service in Nigeria. Since the time he came, insurgency has been degraded, there is relative peace. Previously, people could not go to Church, Mosque, and funeral or attend wedding ceremonies without extreme fear in their minds.

“President Buhari did not come to power to steal; he came to put the country back on track, correct what he can correct and to restore discipline in the civil service, judiciary, and police among others. If Nigerians are honest, they know what Buhari has been doing without lamentation compared to the previous administration.

“To me, he is on a rescue mission and he deserves the support of all well-meaning and responsible Nigerians across the board,” he said.
