Enyimba FC were yesterday evening held to a 1-1 draw by Kwara United in a rescheduled Match Day 16 at the Kwara State stadium.

The game began on a sour note for the home side following a reckless tackle on Enyimba player, Ernest Governor in the 6th minute of the encounter inside the box and a penalty kick was rightly called.

Ikechukwu stepped up dispatched beyond the Ayalogu in United.

However, in the 11th minute, the referee, James Amadin stopped the game temporarily following a collision between Kwara’s Onigbari and Chukwude of Enyimba, but the resulting free kick awarded to Kwara United was saved by Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

The home side, who are relegation threatened, began and the reach goal Ibenegbu confidently spot kick of Godwin for Kwara to up their game afterwards and peppered Ezenwa who thwarted all shots fired at him at least till the end of the first half.

It was however sad news for the People’s Elephant to lose Chukwude who had to be taken off and replaced with Omofoman as result of the collision earlier in the game.

There were series of substitutions from both sides and as expected, the home side were unrelenting in their quest to avoid the 8th defeat of the season and their efforts were rewarded with a 51st goal following an exquisite finish from Stephen Alfred.

Matters became worse for Enyimba as the impressive Ezenwa was taken off following an injury and was replaced by Fatau Dauda in the 67th minute.

Following a 95 minutes of action, Enyimba climbed to the 7th position with 22 points while Kwara United remain rooted at the bottom of the table with 16 points.
