2019: PDP Reps from Lagos want auto ticket

- From Abdullateef Aliyu, Lagos

There is clamour for automatic tickets by five PDP members of the House of Representatives from Lagos State ahead of the 2019 election, Daily Trust reports.

The five members are Tajudeen Obasa representing Ojo Federal Constituency; Shoyinka Olatunji representing Surulere II; Rep. Rita Orji (Ajeromi Ifelodun); Rep. Oghene Egoh (Amuwo Odofin); and Rep. Mutiu Sadimu representing Oshodi Isolo Federal Constituency.

Their supporters are currently agitating for their return unopposed as a payback for the sacrifices they made for the party by staying firm during its “trying times.”

At Saturday’s general assembly of the state chapter of the party held at Oregun, re-election banners and posters of the Rep members dotted strategic points of the venue.

Also, the only PDP House of Assembly member in the 40-member legislature, Dipo Olorunrinu, was not left out in the clamour for automatic candidate for standing firmly with the party.

“In fact in the case of Olorunrinu who represents Amuwo-Odofin II in the House, he has demonstrated uncommon loyalty, resilience and belief in the party for deciding to remain in PDP after seven of his colleagues who were elected together with him in 2015 have dumped the party for the ruling APC,” a source in the party said yesterday.

The state PDP chairman, Hon. Mashood Salvador, had told aspirants for elective positions in 2019 to go back to their communities and win the support of stakeholders.
