The acting deputy chairman of the PDP in Jigawa State, Aminu Nuhu Jahun, says all arrangements have been concluded to receive former governor Saminu Turaki into the party’s fold.

Jahun, who said this when Daily Trust contacted him on the flooding of Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, with posters of Turaki, added that he was likely to get a ticket to contest election for his senatorial district seat.

“Arrangement is in top gear to receive the former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki, from the APC to the PDP. He will contest for the NorthWest senatorial district seat under our party. We will soon receive him into our fold formally,” he said.

Turaki’s posters in which photograph appeared alongside his the presidential aspirant of the PDP and a former governor of the state, Sule Lamido, heightened speculation of the plan to defect to the PDP.

It was also rumoured that he would dump his party for the PDP because he could not be guaranteed a ticket to contest his North/West senatorial district seat which the PDP was said to have promised him.

All efforts to contact Turaki were futile as he did not pick several calls placed to him. Also, he did not reply text message sent to him.

Turaki governed from 1999 to 2011 on the platform of the defunct All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP). He later became a senator on the PDP platform.

The senator, who was denied the ticket to seek re-election, dumped the party for the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
