N/West women, govs’ wives commence mobilization for Buhari
Women, under the aegis of NorthWest Women Movement for Buhari 2019, have began a massive mobilization for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming 2019 election with a ground-breaking ceremony in Katsina State at the weekend.
The ceremony, which began from the polo ground, ended at the Civil Service Commission complex with over 20,000 women from across the North-West zone in attendance together with some governors’ wives and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, the wife of Katsina State governor, Hadiza Masari, said they were drumming support for Buhari due to his purposeful leadership.
Mrs Masari hailed the feats President Buhari has achieved in the areas of war against corruption, security and women empowerment.
She expressed optimism on the victory of the president in 2019 and the ability to deepen his successes and achievements, adding that the rally in his support by the women was another landmark in the political history of Nigeria.
She then called on women in the country to be politically inclined, support the president and always take their place in the society by the proper upbringing of their children and shunning all anti-social activities.
In her remarks, the wife of Katsina State deputy governor and the coordinator of the women movement, Hajiya Mariatu Manir Yakubu, said President Buhari had been gender friendly through many initiatives and policies that put smiles on the faces of the women.
Hajiya Yakubu said President Buhari deserved their full support in the 2019 election, stating that his re-election will be a blessing for the womenfolk not only in the North West or the northern part of the country alone, but the country in general.
She said plans were underway to visit all the North West states to stage mega rallies and grassroots mobilization for the president’s re-election and pursue the empowerment programme for the women.
Highlight of the event was the launch of the first phase of the women empowerment scheme where thousands of women were supported with funds amounting to N10 million by the movement.
