Police arrest 7 in murder, robbery cases

The Gombe State Police Command says it has arrested seven people over alleged cases of criminal conspiracy, robbery and culpable homicide.

Parading the suspects before journalist­s, yesterday, in Gombe, the state Commission­er of Police, Shina Tairu Olukolu, said the suspects were arrested by the men and officers of the command.

He said three suspects, Bature Sule, 41, Rabiu Musa, 42 and Shuaibu Lawan, 40, all residents of Bambam town of Balanga LGA of the state were arrested at their hideout after robbing one Chinedu Obi and Kingsley Joseph.

The CP said an AK47 rifle, cutlass, four handsets and the sum of N188,500 were recovered from them.

Olukolu also paraded one Zachariah Abbas of Kidda town of Yamaltu Deba LGA of the state, who was alleged to have on May 1, 2018 lured his ex-wife behind her hostel block at Federal College of Education ( Technical), Gombe and strangled her.

The command also paraded one Mohammed Bukar alias Mammadi, 33, of Tagewa in Borno State who was alleged to have on May 4, 2018 stolen a car at a Juma’at mosque in Gombe metropolis.

The suspect was arrested along the Potiskum-Damaturu Way by the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in a joint operation between the Yobe State Police Command and the Borno State command.

Also, a 33-year-old resident of Dadiya in Balanga LGA of the state, Musa Kamson, has been arrested alongside his wife, Binta Musa, 25, of same address for allegedly killing a man he caught having carnal knowledge of his wife.

The police commission­er said when the investigat­ion is concluded, all the suspects would be arraigned before the court.
