Ramadan: IBB urges prayers to surmount national challenges
Former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda has called on Muslims to use the opportunity of the Ramadan to pray for Nigeria to surmount its many challenges.
In his Ramadan message to the Muslim Ummah yesterday in Minna, the former military president acknowledged that Nigeria is faced with a lot of challenges but at all levels but that with divine interventions, the myriads of problems were movable.
“We are no doubt faced with various challenges at personal and national levels, but we are always strong and believing in divine intervention to always take us through the right path with prayers to find solutions to our challenges,” he said.
He said he was of strong conviction, perseverance, good intention, prayers, fairness and firmness of purpose Nigeria would be great again.
Babangida congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world for seeing yet another Ramadan month. Three people were yesterday killed in a fresh attack on Ukemberagya community of Gaambe-Tiev district in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The latest killings was sequel to a few days of relative calm in troubled areas of the state and had happened barely 24 hours after the visit Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to the IDPs camps located in Logo areas.
A traditional leader in the area, Chief Joseph Anawah, said gunmen at about 6:30am yesterday launched an attack on the rural community and killed some people while leaving others badly injured.
Anawah said three dead bodies of Bem Torjem, Apedzan Chia and Akpuku Koya have been recovered so far while others were still missing.
He mentioned the affected settlements to include; TseMue, Torkaa, Mgbakpa, Torjem and Ifer, adding that the invaders swooped on their prey at a time when the farmers were on their way to the farms.
Similarly, Chairman of Logo council, Richard Nyajo, told newsmen that he had reported the matter to the police and other appropriate authority for necessary action even as he expressed worry that inhabitants have deserted the surroundings.
Meanwhile, the police at the time of this report was yet to confirm the development as key officers of the Benue Command were in a security meeting at the Government House in Makurdi.
Spokesman of the command, ASP Moses Yamu, responded in a text message to our correspondent that he could not speak at the moment until later.
