The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta Muslim Alumni (MAPAMA) has organised employability training programme for 130 students and prospective corps members of the institution.
In a statement made available to Daily Trust YOUTHVILLE in Lagos, the President of the alumni group,
Salako said the group was also ready to partner with its Alma mater in organising the employability training on periodic basis to address employability and employment problems among the graduates.
“With over 130 participants, comprising students and prospective corps members attending this training programme, we hope this gesture will resonate across board. Our main objective is to acquaint the students with requisite skills necessary for securing sustainable jobs and expose them to possible inclination for entrepreneurial opportunities,” Salako said in the statement.
Similarly, the Chairman, MAPAMA Education Foundation, Abdurrazaq Misbahudeen was quoted as saying that the muslim alumni group is interested in evolving strategies to curtail the evil effects of unemployment and make the Polytechnic graduates, valuable assets to prospective employers wealth creators.
The resource person at the training programme, Mr Abdul Fattah Okanlawon of Goldfields Professional Services, advised the youth to learn soft skills and attitude that will make them secure and retain employment over time.
“Jobs are everywhere just that majority have a mind-set and orientation that is faulty. Muslims in particular suffers from lack of preparedness in job seeking. The manner of dressing and comportment most time, disqualify many ever before being questioned at job interview,” Okanlawon said.
