Salisu invites Omoyele, Ashadi, 21 others for Atletico friendly

were @shagcy Ahead of Tuesday’s friendly match between Super Eagles’ B and newlycrown­ed Europa League kings, Atletico Madrid FC of Spain at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria’s Head Coach Salisu Yusuf has invited 23 players, among them highly-rated Plateau United striker Tosin Omoyele and Katsina United defender Destiny Ashadi.

There also callwill ups for Akwa United FC goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo, Enyimba FC forward Isiaka Oladuntoye, FC IfeanyiUba­h defender Adeleye Olamilekan and Lobi Stars’ duo of Olufemi Kayode and Ebube Duru.

A sprinkle of foreignbas­ed actors, including the nimble-footed Alhassan Ibrahim, former U17 World Cup-winning captain Musa Muhammed and the Nwakali brothers (Chidiebere and Kelechi) were also included.

The rest are Olufemi Thomas, Stanley Okoroma, Ikouwem Utin, Austin Opara, Chinedu Ajana, Raphael Ayagwa, Usman Mohammed, Dayo Ojo, Emem Eduok, Sadiq Umar, Tosin Omoyele, Kadiri Samadi and Ibrahim Alhassan.

All invited players are expected to arrive at the Bolton White Apartments Hotel, Abuja on Friday, 18th May before the contingent moves to Uyo at the weekend.

Meanwhile, the U20 National Team, Flying Eagles, fancy their chances of reaching the next round of the qualificat­ion series for the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations when they face their Guinea Bissau counterpar­ts at the Udoukaha Jacob Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Saturday.

Seven-time African champions Nigeria were forced to a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Bissau last weekend, with Enyimba FC’s Wasiu Alalade netting a first-half brace before the hosts leveled in the second period.

The Guinea Bissau contingent arrived in Lagos on Wednesday night and fly into the Cross River State capital on Friday, while match officials from Togo are scheduled to be in Nigeria on Friday morning.

CAF has appointed Kouassi Attisso Attiogbe as referee, alongside his compatriot­s Limsa Kabassima (Assistant Referee 1), Adam Moukaila Biyao (Assistant Referee 2) and Kokou Hougnimon Fagla (Reserve Referee).

Mr. Andy Quame from Liberia will serve as the match commission­er.
