MTN vows support for SMEs, entrepreneurs

- From Abdullateef Aliyu, Lagos

MTN Nigeria has restated its commitment to help small businesses not only to break even but to deepen their competitiveness, position them to make profit and get them more customers.

CEO, MTN Nigeria, Ferdinand Moolman, stated this at the unveiling of The Man in the Box, a business solutions and public awareness campaign targeted at helping small businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs.

The #Maninthebox, Ibrahim Onimisi-Suleiman, was working dayand-night in what appeared to be an office-in-a-billboard displaying the phrases.

At the unveiling of the man who was holed up in the billboard for four days, the CEO said the concept was to affirm MTN’s commitment to helping enterprises and businesses to succeed in their respective endeavours.

He said by so doing, the company would be complementing the government’s drive to enhance the growth of SMEs in the country.

MTN’s activities, he stressed, are not tied only around individual customers, saying SMEs are an integral part of the telecom’s company business.

With the man in the box unveiled, the MTN CEO said the billboard would be provided to SMEs to advertise for free and showcase their enterprises to Nigeria.

The Chief Enterprise Development Officer, MTN Nigeria, Lynda SaintNwafor, said the concept became a reality after a year of painstaking planning to help small businesses surmount their challenges.

The Man in the Box said the four days he was in the box provided him an insight to see the daily struggle of Nigerians to eke out a living, saying Nigerians are hard-working, enterprising people.
