‘Your strategic planning, key to attain smartcity dream’

- From Nurudeen Oyewole, Lagos

The Lagos State Governor Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has told civil servants in the state that their strategic plannings are prerequisite to the attainment of the state’s smartcity ambition.

Ambode made the call in a keynote address delivered at a Lagos State Civil Service training programme organised by the Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pensions in Lagos.

According to the governor, notwithstanding his administration’s investments in other areas of training to bring the best out of the civil servants, the aspect of strategic planning was quite essential, saying it was the glue that holds things together in administration.

“Our administration has exposed Lagos State civil servants to a number of workshops designed to increase, and in some cases, deepen the soft skills essential for success in a 21st century public service. These soft skills include office etiquettes, communication skills, office relationship skills, emotional intelligence skills and problemsolving skills.

“While all the foregoing interventions were aimed at ultimately promoting productivity, it is apparent that strategic planning is the glue that holds them all together. It is the essential piece in the jigsaw puzzle,” Ambode, who was represented by the Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Dr Akintola BensonOke, said.

The governor argued that the training would assist the civil servants to be proactive, have a sense of direction and increase their operational efficiency.
