FEC approves N5bn for road linking Osun to Ekiti
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved N5.2 billion for the rehabilitation of OkeIla-Ilale Ekon Road in Osun State linking Ekiti State.
The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, said this while briefing State House reporters after the FEC meeting.
“The contract is to link the borders of the two states, it is a 34 kilometer length road. It has been embarked upon earlier on by the Osun State government but after three kilometers they gave up as they couldn’t fund it.
“The federal government has taken over the road, the road has always been a federal road in anyway. The completion is 15 months,” he said.
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, said 3.5m was approved for the procurement and installation of 64 tons capacity crane, “another component of N203 million and N69 million for training.”
He said the FEC also approver the hiring of a transactional adviser for the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri tracks that would connect Abia-Owerri-UmumahiaEnugu-Awka-AbakilikiiMakurdi-Lafia-Jos-BauchiGombe-Damaturu-YolaMaiduguri. Health Minister Isaac Adewole said the council ratified the protocol on tobacco control aimed at eliminating illicit trade in the tobacco industry.
Interior Minister Abdulrahman Dambazzau said N582.8m was approved for the consultancy service for the construction of a technology building to accommodate data communication as well as command and control centre for the Nigeria Immigration Service.
