Tiv council tasks youth on social media use
The Tiv Youth Council (TYC) in Benue State has called on youth from the state to shun rumour mongering on social media and seek for useful information to perform better.
The president, TYC, Hon. Mike Msuaan, who made the call at a news briefing in Abuja, said “This attitude has no doubt created more enmity between us and our neighbours.
“We should learn to be more accommodating and collectively fight the monster that has come to destroy us as a people.”
He called for more effort to liberate communities from attacks on them. “On behalf of the entire youths, we want to strongly advise that more effort be made towards completely liberating our communities from these deadly attacks, so that our people can confidently go back to their communities and continue their farming activities for which we are known,” he said.
The group called on government and wealthy individuals to assist Benue State stabilise the many youth rendered orphans by the crisis and their education cut short.
He said: “They are the future leaders of Benue State and the way they will grow up from now, will determine how well our State will be in years to come.”
It commended the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations, Habila Joshak Joseph, who spent some time in the state to combat the menace.
