Appointments & Promotions New CFO for Zenith Bank
Zenith Bank Plc. has appointed Dr. Mukhtar Adam as its chief financial officer.
A statement from the lender said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had approved his appointment.
Before joining the bank in 2007, he had worked in Financial Services Group of the Nigerian and Ghanaian practices of PricewaterhouseCoopers (now PwC) as a senior consultant.
The statement said that his expertise covers financial reporting and analysis, tax management, audit management, strategy development and execution, enterprise risk management, credit risk management, financial advisory, capacity building and training.
Adam holds a PhD in finance from Leeds Beckett University (UK); Master of Science degree in Finance from University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, (UK), Master of Business Administration (MBA) finance, University of Leicester (UK) and Bachelor of Education, economics and management from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Also, Adam holds a diploma in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Mutual general company gets director
The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has approved the appointment of insurance executive Japhet Duru as new executive director, Technical at Old Mutual General Insurance Company Nigeria.
Duru will oversee the operations department of the organization with a view to bolster its underwriting operations and maintain its prompt claims settlement.
Duru, an Economics graduate of the Imo State University started his career at Valid Insurance Limited. Prior to joining Old Mutual General Insurance, he served as the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer at HIERS Insurance Brokers Limited.
Duru has also held various senior management positions such as Head of Underwriting at KBL Insurance Ltd, Group Head Technical at International Energy Insurance Ltd and Head of Operations at Stanbic IBTC Insurance Brokers Limited.
Japhet Duru also holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Lagos State University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN).
