NPDP’s claims far from marginalization – Ganduje

- From Yusha’u A. Ibrahim, Kano

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has said the claims by some members of the nPDP group within the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) are far from marginalisation.

Addressing journalists, yesterday, as part of his 3rd anniversary in office, Ganduje said the Buhari-led government had never marginalised members of the nPDP.

He said, “There is nothing like marginalisation in the whole issue; rather it is corruption that is fighting back. It is the few among us that claimed to be marginalised while in the actual sense they were not.

“I am part of the nPDP; I am not part of those who claim to be marginalised because I am not. I can tell the whole world that there is something going on underground,” he said.

Ganduje also questioned what marginalisation they were talking about. “I am governor in Kano, Bindow in Adamawa and Ahmed in Kwara while Saraki is the Senate President and Dogara is Speaker in the House of Representatives?

“The governors and the two leaders of the NASS can appoint who they want in various committees in NASS and public offices without any interference,” he said.

Ganduje added that that his wish was that his predecessor would remain in APC, noting that in politics, number always counts. “But in the event he (exGovernor Rabiu Kwankwaso) wants out nobody could stop him.”

The governor, however, assured that President Muhammadu Buhari would no doubt win Kano come 2019 general elections.

“Buhari contested election four times and won in the fifth attempt. I can tell you he won Kano in all the five attempts including the time the then governor of the state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, was contesting for president.

“Buhari won Kano when PDP was in control of the state, he won again when his former party, the defunct ANPP was in control and he won when we formed APC. So, if he can win the state when his party was not in control what of now that his party is in control? We are working hard to get the five million votes we promised and God willing we will get them,” he said.
