A 32-year-old man has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State for allegedly beating his mother to a state of coma.

Parading the suspect alongside others, yesterday, the Commandant of NSCDC in the state, Muhammed Gidado Fari, said the suspect, Obey Samuel, was arrested for beating his biological mother “without any provocation.”

In a brief chat with journalists, Samuel however denied the allegation. He said, “I did not beat her but I know that when I came back from a night club at that time I was drunk I just locked her up in her room.”

The NSCDC boss also paraded three persons who allegedly took advantage of the recent clashes between farmers and herders in the state to loot households left deserted in Keana LGA.

“We have arrested three persons looting aluminum pots and other household items of the displaced persons who deserted their houses during the recent farmersherders clashes in the state,” Fari said.

He added that the command is still investigating the suspects on whether they are connected to the recent arson on the deserted houses. “At the moment there is no evidence of their involvement in the burning of the houses but the matter is still under investigation,” he said.

Fari said the command also arrested a man who allegedly duped a micro-finance bank of the sum of N85,000 and another suspect who swindled other person of over N800,000.
