Sen Oduah dumps PDP for APGA

- By Abbas Jimoh

Aformer Minister of Aviation, Senator Stella Oduah (Anambra North), has formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Sen. Oduah was led to the APGA national secretariat yesterday in Abuja by Sen. Victor Umeh and received by the APGA National Chairman, Dr. Victor Oye, who said her joining the party marked part of his three years celebration of his June 6, 2015, swearing-in as the national chairman of the party.

Her defection thus brought the number of APGA senators to two, apart from the six House of Representatives members in the National Assembly, who also accompanied her.

Ms Oduah said she had always been inspired by what the party represented in the South East and that her joining the party was a home coming for a party that had always been in her heart.

She said, “APGA is a movement, it cares about the other person and that’s what I think politics is all about. You should be able to make a difference, enhance the life of the average man and woman in your constituency. I am impressed by the holistic movement which APGA stands for; that’s what I cherish.

“We have a governor in Anambra, Willie Obiano, who stands for transformation, and a national chairman that isn’t myopic in his worldview and wants APGA to grow beyond the South East. I want to also appreciate my colleague in the senate, Victor Umeh. He is an epitome of what a legislator should be. He is one of the most brilliant, sagacious and committed sons of Igboland.

Speaking earlier, the immediate past National Chairman of APGA, Sen. Umeh, expressed excitement over the development, saying he would no longer be alone in the Red Chamber and that Sen. Oduah’s defection had swelled the ranks of APGA members in the National Assembly.
