CISLAC, NOA, ICPC sensitise youths against corruption
Youths in Edo State have been urged to stand against all forms of corrupt practices for a better Nigeria.
The call was made by Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CICLAC), in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and National Orientation Agency (NOA) yesterday. CISLAC’s Advocacy and Legal Officer, Bathsheba Tagwai, spoke at a one-day sensitization workshop it organised for tertiary institutions and National Youth Service Corp members, in collaboration with Global Affair Canada and Transparency International.
She said the country can only move forward when youths who are the tomorrow’s leaders purged themselves of all manners of corrupt practices, and report same to the relevant authorities for proper sanctioning rather than doing nothing.
Tagwai said the fight against corruption must be seen as one for all and not for selected individuals in the society adding that in achieving a corrupt free society, the youths must be educated on the adverse effects of corruption in the country.
Speaking on the topic “Your Rights and Responsibilities as a Nigerian,” the Acting State Director, NOA, Mrs. Eseka Grace, represented by Mr. Austin Odile, said youths must try to know their right and involve in the democratic process by collecting their voters card to enable them choose their leaders in the forthcoming election rather criticizing the government.
Also speaking, Jimoh Sulaiman of the ICPC urged youths to raise their voice against corruption as it breeds poverty, lack of good roads, unemployment and poor service delivery.
