CIMCON holds 11th annual Ramadan lecture
A Kaduna-based Islamic scholar Sheikh Shehu Ahmad Bello has identified five reasons that have caused sharp division among Muslims globally.
He spoke in a lecture titled Unity of Muslims in Present Day Nigeria in the face of Security Challenges, and organised by the Council of Ihsan Muslim Community of Nigeria (CIMCON) an umbrella body for Igala Muslims resident in Kaduna.
Ahmad Bello identified external interference in the form financial inducement and deliberate distortion of Islam through heavy media propaganda as one of the reasons for disunity in Islam.
He also said many ulama and scholars do not have access to enough literature and those who have never bothered to read to understand the real meaning of the religion, adding that due to attraction to material gains, some scholars have become tools in the hands of enemies of the religion.
The scholar noted that “unity of Muslims is non-negotiable as the onslaughts in the form of different attacks against the faithful do not discriminate whether one is an adherent of Dariqatil Tijjaniya, Izala, Shi’a or whatever.”
Chairman of the occasion and National Secretary of CIMCON Alhaji Mikhail Ibrahim admonished Muslims to strive to reap the bounties of this blessed month of Ramadan, saying the topic of the lecture was timely and called for prayers for peace to reign in Nigeria.
Special Guest at the event Dr. Saidu Ebune called for special prayers and unity among Igala in view of the persecution being visited on them by the current government in Kogi State.
