Sheikh Gumi was wrong
Sheikh Ahmed Mahmud Gumi’s utterances which appeared in a video that went viral on the social media responding to criticism and condemnation he made on present administration of Muhammadu Buhari on corruption charges and money laundering leveled against former Kaduna Governor, Alh. Ramalan Yero as most unfortunate and unbelievable! As an Islamic jurist, preacher and professional medical practitioner, the learned Malam has turned round to support the culprits which he used to criticize before since the EFCC has arraigned the former governor in court of law to face the charges. The religion of Islam has condemned the issue of bribery and corruption in its totality as enshrined and adopted in the Quran according to verses 188, Suratul Baqara and reechoed in verses 29-30, Suratul Al-Nisa. I pray Sheikh Ahmed Gumi should devote more time in solving irreconcilable differences among Muslims during Ramadan periods than delving into the affairs of corrupt people and leaders who wanted, at all cost, to ground the activities of the country to a standstill! David (Palestine) against the Zionist-Israeli Goliath. Spare an hour or two to join to protest this carnage annually until Palestine is liberated and Israel cease to exist. It is pertinent to understand that the International Quds day doubles as an avenue to stand in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians and all the oppressed people around the globe. The plight of the people of Yemen, Syria, Myanmar, Bahrain, Kashmir etc should be identified with. It is also important to demand the release of the champion of the Palestinian cause in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky who has been under illegal detention since December, 2015 and every person illegally detained. Withal, this makes it apt to say that the synonym for this day is International Day of the Oppressed.
