Women at the 2018 Annual National Women Leadership Conference have been urged to lead the change campaign by encouraging men in their lives to shun corruption.

The event, organized recently in Abuja by Leadbold Firm, was themed “Leading Sustainable Change in Nigeria: Examining the National challenges and opportunities with particular attention to promoting inclusive leadership as a panacea for accelerating National Development and upholding good governance.”

The guest speaker, former Chairman of Council of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Dr Sally Adukwu-Bolujoko, who made the call for women to join in active politics to salvage the country, said confident factor was important for Nigerian women to achieve greater heights. “Women should run their organisations with the mindset that their successes will ensure sustainable development which will take care of their children’s futures,” she said.

She said integrity was paramount for women that want to aspire for leadership and that this is built through character, which sustains leadership. She added that women are created as managers and can best manage the country’s political and economic sectors.

The convener, Kelechi Kingsley said even as women strive for leadership, they must do this without negating their primary roles of taking care of their homes. She said women must learn to teach their male children to respect women, adding that they must also make it clear to their husbands that the pursuit of money was not the same as the pursuit of happiness.

“If you make your husbands see money as everything, it will increase crime and corruption. It is our responsibility to lead moderate lives and teach our wards to do same. This is a major way to curb corruption,” she said, adding that women however need to be motivated to explore the potentials in them.
