Police nab 3 robbery suspects, recover gun at Zuba
The FCT police have arrested three armed robbery suspects and recovered a locally made gun at Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council.
The police commissioner, Sadiq Bello Abubakar, who stated this at a press briefing in Abuja, on Friday, said the suspects were arrested by police operatives who were on a stop and search operation along Tungan MajeZuba road.
He gave the names of the suspects as Pambolo Akusa, 25, Emmanuel Adams, 33, and Aliyu Rabiu, 22, saying the three were on a motorcycle when a double barrel gun was found on one of them.
He said the suspects would be transferred to the state CID for further investigation and eventual prosecution.
The commissioner added that two notorious receivers of stolen vehicles from Abuja were also arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
He said the suspects, Monday Oriyan and Emmanuel Onmonya, led the operatives to Makurdi and Kano where the vehicles, two Toyota Camry cars with registration numbers NTT 419 AA and YAB 699 BG, were recovered.
According to him, a registered Honda car was also recovered from the suspects. He urged members of the public to be careful when boarding public transport, especially taxis.
“It is becoming increasingly risky for both passengers and owners of taxis as incidents have been recorded where owners of taxis are dispossessed of their vehicles by criminals that enter taxis as passengers,” the commissioner said.
