APC and the R-APC conundrum

-

You know when an aircraft overshoots its altitude there is every possibility of skipping up the trajectory and perhaps arrived at a different destination. It is evident that some elements within the party feels aggrieved since from day one, this could be either due to unfavourable decisions taken by the leadership of the party or simply because of a different political philosophy that exist within the party landlords and the tenants.

The formation of R-APC may not necessarily threaten the victory of the main party especially that 8 months to general election may not be feasible for any candidate to be sellable or emerge as unanimous aspirant that will be accepted by the 6 political zones.

Even if there is a consensus candidate, he may not possibly get the required percentage in each of the political zones.

If you take a close look at the new leadership of the reformed APC, you wouldn’t have to be reminded that this is somebody that fails to ensure sanity and consistency in a party that was nursed, raised and butchered by him (the then CPC days) besides his close allies in this new journey were either victims of the then treachery or aware of too much affection to money and material politics which will definitely ruin their self-serving alliance.

On the other hand, the main APC is yet to understand that laxity and indiscipline have deeply eaten the root of their affairs, in fact those who rode on the saddle of the party to attain victory appears to be ungrateful to the party as majority of them engaged into anti party dissonance which is logically contradictory and absurd to the agreement they entered with their people.

The leadership however failed to impose disciplinary action against any repulsive attitude shown by its members, in fact the state governors completely hijacked the affairs of the party in such a way that party chairmen became their errand boys through which they make and unmake decisions without even looking over their shoulders for approval.

The account of the party was however left at the mercy of its own destiny as no distinct source of funds as to when and how to overcome big financial challenges without resolving to solicitation. This now make the party to be too fragile to take bold step against any unethical behaviour by its own members simply because of the benevolence the party enjoy from them.

The summation of the above and perhaps a little more is what triggers the crises of the threeyear-old amalgamation of new political journey in Nigeria.

What so ever transpired between those who felt cheated and those who thinks the party is their own property, one thing still remains unaltered in the minds of common men; and this is party affiliation may not necessarily work in 2019 polls.

While envisaging Nigeria beyond 2019, I pray and hope that this political turmoil will only consume the players and allow the spectators to watch in peace and harmony.
