FG to payroll 3,542 Delta Steel pensioners in August – PTAD
The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has concluded the computation of pension benefits for 3,542 Delta Steel Company (DSC) and they will be payrolled in August 2018.
A statement released yesterday by PTAD indicated that once the pensioners are payrolled next month, they will start receiving pension for life.
“It is significant to note that this milestone achievement is coming 13 years after the Federal Government concluded the privatization of the company in February 2005,” the statement stated.
The Directorate visited the company in March 2017 to meet with the retirees to assure them of federal government’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerian pensioners.
PTAD had successfully verified 4,182 regular pensioners and deceased pensioners Next of Kin (NOKs) in November 2017 in an exercise that held concurrently in Abuja, Lagos and Aladja in Delta state.
The statement indicated that following the successful conclusion of the exercise, 3,542 pensioners who were cleared by Federal Audit will be payrolled in August 2018 and will start receiving their monthly pension for life.
PTAD, an agency in charge of defined benefits scheme, also revealed that the computation, audit and payrolling of NICON, Nigerian Reinsurance and NITEL/MTEL will be completed in due course.
