Gun runner, 9 others arrested in Katsina
A50-year-old man who allegedly specialised in supplying arms and ammunition to cattle rustlers, kidnappers and armed robbers in Katsina has been arrested.
The Amadu suspect, Safiyanu of Barbelu village, Bakori LGA of Katsina State was reportedly arrested in a pursuit inside Rugu forest as he was delivering some weapons.
The spokesman of Katsina police command, SP Gambo Isah, in a statement said two locally made revolver pistols and one 7.62mm live ammunition of AK47 rifle were recovered from him.
“Nemesis caught up with him and the suspect has owned up to have intended selling same to cattle rustlers inside the forest. He is assisting the police in their investigation,” he said.
In a related development, nine other suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the command.
They are, Hassan Rabo, Isah Hussaini, Ahmadu Shuaibu, Lawal Rabo alias ‘Mai-Rakumi’, Samaila Sani alias ‘Ilu’, Abdulmumini Gide and Bello Umar all of RuwanGodiya village of Faskari LGA of Katsina State
Others are Adamu Mohd of Unguwar Kubai, Faskari and Husamatu Dalhatu of Kakumi village, Bakori LGA of the state
Isah said based on a tip off, the command succeeded in busting the criminal operations on July 3.
He added that the suspects have confessed to various armed robbery/kidnapping incidents in Katsina and its environs.
