An Akure magistrate’s court has ordered that the 27-yearold boyfriend and alleged killer of ex-Ondo deputy governor’s daughter be remanded in prison.

Seidu Shakiru Adeyemi was yesterday charged to court for the alleged murder of 25-yearold Khadijat Oluboyo, a student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) and daughter of the immediate past deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo.

She was said to have been killed and buried in the accused person’s room on July 2 and he was arrested while attempting to evacuate the corpse when policemen swooped in on him.

Police prosecutor Sgt Mary Adebayo told the court that the accused person and others now at large conspired together to strangulate Khadijat to death and buried her in his room.

The offence, the prosecutor further said, was committed on July 2 at about 7.30pm at Aratunsin St, Oke -Aro, Akure.

She told the court that the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 324 and 316 of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

She later made an application for the remand of the accused in prison custody pending legal advice from the DPP.

The defence counsel, Taiwo Gbadebio, did not object the motion of the prosecutor.

Thereafter, Chief Magistrate Victoria Bob-Manuel ordered that the accused be remanded in Olokuta Prisons pending the receipt of legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution while the original copy of the case file be sent to the state Chief Registrar for safe keeping.

The plea of the accused was not taken and the case was adjourned to August 23, for mention.
