Enyimba seek revival in Confederation Cup

- By David Ngobua

Enyimba FC of Aba are hoping to get their Confederation Cup campaign back on track tomorrow when they host Williamsville Athletic Club of Ivory Coast in Port-Harcourt.

Enyimba who started their campaign on a promising note with a 2-0 in over Djoliba of Mali slumped to a 0-3 loss to CARA Brazzaville in their second group match.

Thus, they are eying the maximum points in their third group match when they host the Ivoirians who are topping Group C.

If Enyimba win against Willaimsville Athletic Club and struggling Djoliba AC de Bamako defeat CARA Brazzaville, the former Africa champions would shoot to the top of the table.

Scorer of Enyimba’s crucial goal in one of the preliminary round matches against Bidvest Wits of South Africa, Mustapha Ibrahim is confident that his side will nick the three points.

He said Enyimba lost their last away match so they are eager to return to winning ways.

“We are ready to take on Williamsville who are presently topping our group. Their position on the table is an indication that they are a good side.

“Our aim is to pick the three points in order to go to the top of the table.

“It is not going to be an easy match but we have prepared adequately for it. They will make things difficult for us but we shall not allow them to get anything from the match.

“We shall put pressure on them and ensure that we win the maximum points in the end,” he assured.

The former El-Kanemi Warriors striker therefore called on fans of Enyimba to stand firmly behind the team as they seek to bounce back to winning ways.
