Kudos to Dr. Abdullahi Baffa

-

From daily unfolding events, fair and balanced distribution of funds to public universities and tertiary institutions have noticeably reached a high gear in Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). The first question that might come to every reader’s mind of this write-up is, what provoked my mood to praise the current executive secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund with delightful remarks. That’s why I decided not to mince too many words without going directly to the main reason that prompted me to slam kudos to Dr. Abdullahi Bichi Baffa.

If we take into account the immeasurable contributions TETfund gives for meteoric rise of our universities and other educational institutions, the institution needs a person with inviolable moral standards like President Muhammadu Buhari. Someone with moral uprightness capable of helping President Muhammadu Buhari in his steely resolve to rid this country out of pervasive monster of corruption. Admirably, with the appointment of A. B. Baffa as the executive secretary of TETfund, he uplifted the agency to higher levels.

In spite of incessant harassments he suffered during P.D. P’s misrule, Dr. Baffa remained steadfast to the course of justice and equity. Public universities witness remarkable progress courtesy of his tireless monitoring. Hardly a week passed without unveiling newly completed projects in our universities and tertiary institutions. Many sections of TETfund received rapid progress under A.B Baffa’s supervision. These areas include: Institution based research. Appreciatively, under this, lecturers with good research skills were offered muximum grants of Two Million Naira to publish outcomes of their respective research proposals. Also, massive disbursement of scholarship grants to lecturers to enhance and upgrade their quality.

To strengthen my claim, based on journals released periodically by TETfund, at July 2017, 17 universities, 13 polytechnics and 17 colleges of education benefited from this scheme. The beneficiaries consist of those from Abia State Polytechnic, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Kano State Polytechnic, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and many more universities, colleges of education and polytechnics. Also, of utmost importance to note are: commissioning and founding numerous projects at various universities and tertiary institutions. Conference attendance which provides necessary skills, experiences for academic and non-academic staff of government tertiary institutions to compete with their counterparts across the globe. Still, a periodic journal of TETfund shows a total of 967 staffs were sponsored for local conference attendance, with 149 for foreign conference.
