Why NABTEB is not remitting funds like JAMB – Registrar
The National Business and Technical Examination Board is not remitting funds to the federal government like the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board due to its less enrolment figures.
NABTEB Registrar Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, said this in Benin yesterday while announcing the release of the results of the 2017 National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations.
She said the board’s examination is different in terms of enrolment figures and that the enrolment figure is a very small percentage compared to JAMB’s.
“I thought the question should be how does NATEB cope and is able to carry out its extensive activities and not how much is remitted. We need money to curb examination malpractices among others, but we don’t have as many candidates like other examination bodies.
She disclosed out of 54,752 candidates that sat for the 2018 certificate examination, only 32,697 passed English Language and Mathematics, representing 59 .72 percent.
She said 45, 721 candidates scored five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics, representing 83.51 percent.
She said 842 candidates were involved in examination malpractices, adding that Edo, Bayelsa and Borno did not record such cases.
