Daily Trust reporter wins OFAB media award
Daily Trust reporter, Adie Vanessa Offiong has won the Open Forum for Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB) Coordinator’s award for outstanding reports on agriculture and biotechnology development in Nigeria.
The 2nd Edition of the OFAB media award held in Abuja was organized to recognize journalists with outstanding reports in science and biotechnology development in Nigeria and other African countries.
The Country Director of OFAB Nigeria, Rose Gidado said the award was initiated last year by the African Agricultural Technology foundation across seven countries and partner media to encourage farmers to embrace genetic modification technology.
“Technology has become the corner stone responsible for bumper harvest and selfsufficiency in quality food production and Nigeria must not be left behind which is why we are celebrating the contributions of distinguished media practitioners to our advocacy and sensitization efforts,” she added.
The Acting Director General of National Biotechnology Development Agency, (NABDA) Prof Alex Akpa, speaking at the event said rapid changes in the area of science and technology has made the world a better place which was why journalists, who have covered modern biotechnology activities in the last one year were honoured
