Sokoto: 19 suspects in police net for terrorising citizens, other crimes

The Police in Sokoto have arrested 19 suspects for different offences including terrorising innocent citizens, homosexuality, criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

Police Public Relations Officer Sokoto command, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, who disclosed this Wednesday in Sokoto, said the arrests were in continuation of the command’s effort to rid the state of criminals and criminality.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Murtala Mani, had ensured coordinated search and surveillance aimed at protecting the lives and property of the people of the state, she stressed.

The PPRO disclosed that five suspects Bashar Musa, Jamilu Bello, Bilyaminu Yahaya, Samaila Rabiu and Jibrin Zulkifli were arrested for terrorising innocent citizens.

Among the suspects were Dahiru Abubakar, Rabiu Muhammad and Muslim Umar arrested for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

According to her, four others Abubakar Shehu, Mahadi Bello, Masarana Hamza and Ahmed Shehu were nabbed for ‘’having carnal knowledge against the order of nature.’’

Also, Shehu Muhammad and Bello Abdullahi, she noted, were arrested for being in possession of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The PPRO urged the public to assist police with useful information that could lead to arrest of more suspects.
