I am still in APC — Gen. Onoja

- By Muideen Olaniyi

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), retired General Lawrence Anebi Onoja, has denied media reports that he has dumped the ruling party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a release signed by his media consultant, Paul Udenyi, Onoja said he remained a strong and committed member of the APC-led government under President Muhammadu Buhari.

He also expressed his loyalty to the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and the party’s leader in Benue State, Senator George Akume.

The septuagenarian urged his supporters nationwide to support the APC-led government to accomplish its mission of making Nigeria a better society.

The release read, “Our attention has been drawn to a frivolous and misguided report in the social media that retired General Lawrence Anebi Onoja has decamped from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We want to make it categorically clear that General Onoja has not, will not, and has no intention of doing so as mischievously reported.

“We suspect that the recent decamping of Chief Mike Okibe Onoja, a former Federal Permanent Secretary from APC to PDP in Benue State might be misconstrued to mean that General Lawrence Anebi Onoja was the person.”

The release, therefore, urged media professionals to always verify all information before publication to avoid misguided representations and fake news.
