I ran the council from my pocket on assuming office — Abaji chairman
The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has said he personally funded the council when he assumed office.
Ajiya made this revelation when he received the FCT state executives of All Progressives Congress (APC), led by its chairman, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, who were inspecting projects carried out by the council boss.
He said his predecessor left a backlog of staff salaries and other liabilities.
“It was hectic for me during my first year in office as our allocation was N30 million. But today, we give glory to God that things have improved as staff are now paid regularly,” he said.
The chairman said his administration, in the last two years, has provided viable projects in health, water, electricity, roads and agriculture.
He thanked the FCT APC for taking time to inspect projects and also inaugurate the local government executives.
The FCT APC chairman, Alhaji Usman Abdulmalik, said the party decided to inspect projects executed by all the six area council chairmen within the last two years of their assumption of office.
He said the state executives would also use the occasion to inaugurate the local government executives. He commended the council chairman for executing projects that have direct impact on the lives of his people.
The party chairman urged voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so to be able to vote for APC at all levels in 2019.
