Kofar-Soro faults Dalung on NFF reconciliation committee
A former Director of Sports in Katsina State, Alhaji Aliyu Kofar-Soro has faulted the decision of the minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung to set up a 6-man Elders Stakeholders Committee to find solution to the crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation.
The committee which was inaugurated yesterday in Abuja and was given two weeks within which to submit its report to the sports ministry has a former chairman of the then NFA, Col. Abdulmumuni Aminu (rtd) as chairman.
Other members of the committee are a former Chairman of NFA, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, a former NFF president, Kojo Williams, Prof. Onye Gyd-Wado, Dr. Sam Sam Jaja and a former NFF General Secretary, Chief Bolaji Ojo-Oba.
In his reaction to Daily Trust yesterday, the football administrator said the action of the sports minister is tantamount to putting a cart before the horse.
He explained that since the case between Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa is still in court, he does not see how the committee would help in resolving a case that is festering in court.
Kofar-Soro, therefore, said a long as the case is in court, the committee made up of eminent Nigerians may not be able to do anything tangible to resolve the crisis.
“I am aware that the minister has inaugurated a committee to ensure peaceful resolution of the lingering crisis in the NFF.
“My question is, have the warring factions agreed to settle the matter out of court? If they haven’t, why doesn’t the minister wait until the court process takes its full course?
“I am afraid this committee made up of reputable Nigerians may not succeed in its assignment. Once again, the cart has been put before the horse,” he noted.
