She noted that northeast had suffered from Boko Haram insurgency hence the need for the new office to reduce the plight of the pensioners .

“With this office, we brought our services very close to our pensioners; we don’t want them to travel all the way to Abuja when they have complains, enquiries or when they need to be verified.

“We also have a mobile verification team, which will have to go to our pensioners home, hospital for our aged and sick pensioners that could come to our office here in Damaturu”, she added.

Earlier, Yobe State Head of Service Saleh Abubakar, said: “It’s on record that, due to our prudent management of our scarce resources, Yobe has remained above board in the payment of salaries, pension and gratuity when the country is facing difficult economic challenges.

“It may also interest you to know that the governor has set up a special committee to pay outstanding pension and gratuity to the next of kin of deceased officers in local government having so far expended the sum of N2.6 billion covering N2,793 beneficiaries between 2011 to February 2018”.
