Olubadan/high chiefs truce excites mogajis
The authentic mogajis in Ibadanland say the crisis between the Olubadan and his high chiefs over their controversial beaded crowns will soon be over following the recent truce brokered by a former governor of the state, Rashidi Ladoja.
The spokesman of the authentic mogajis, Chief Wale Oladoja, in a statement yesterday, said the mogajis received the news of the truce with great excitement, saying the reconciliation efforts kick started by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes has yielded results.
Oladoja lauded the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, for his abiding faith in the tradition and unwavering stance since August 2017 when the state government elevated the high chiefs and some baales to crown wearing and coronet bearing kings.
He said the mogajis also commended the high chiefs for retracing their steps and doing everything possible to give room for amicable resolution of the crisis
Oladoja said last year’s coronation of the high chiefs and baales had further reinforced the mogajis belief that leading traditional rulers like Ibadan high chiefs who are the custodians of all 11 local governments in Ibadanland should not dabble in partisan politics because of their standings in the society
The representatives of Ibadan families in the palace said the mogajis appealed to the concerned chiefs to exercise restraints on issues that have to do with the politics of 2019.
