- From Ibrahim Musa Giginyu, Kano

Kaduna State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has trained 50 youth including persons with disabilities on Agency Banking to enhance financial inclusion in rural areas.

The Commissioner in the ministry, Hajiya Hafsat Baba said in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kaduna that the beneficiaries were trained for three days.

The commissioner explained that after a rigorous selection process, two people from each of the 23 local government areas were trained on agency banking.

She added that four persons with disabilities were added to make the number of beneficiaries to 50.

“We really want to have people who have a little knowledge about agency banking, passion and can make impact in contributing to their communities, because we want it to be community driven,” she said.

According to her, the youth would be provided with gender tool kits and certificates to become gender ambassadors and bank agents.

The commissioner revealed that the ministry will train eight supervisors to monitor the youth “so that by November 2018 we will able to showcase success story about these young people.” (NAN)

Kano-based young trio musicians recently making waves in the state’s modern musical industry have come together to uplift the entertaining industry in the state via the creation of a platform that will give the young upcoming artists an avenue to showcase and promote their singing talents and also project their work to the world.

The young artists comprising Englandraised Hausa urban artist Saifullah Ibrahim called Dr. Pure, Edward Mathew called Ed cool, and Emanuel Bala Marama a.k.a Mighty came together to promote their musical career in the state by forming a single label.

Vibeznation is a platform they formed through which they collectively organise shows and concerts to promote their songs and project their talent to the outer world.

In an encounter with Daily Trust, Dr. Pure said they have carved a niche for themselves in Kano in doing the kind of music they have chosen for themselves.

“People believe that you can only be recognised when you go to Lagos state or Abuja, but let me tell you something, I have hosted many artists who have come to Kano to record their songs featuring our own artists. This is clear evidence that shows, we have already made it,” said Dr. Pure.

For Ed cool, the formation of the platform is an attempt they needed to do as young artists to create an avenue for themselves to constitute their own sustainable career as musicians.

He said, “Music has always been in us and the kind of music we do is new, therefore we have to unite ourselves and promote what we do. As young artists we feel we shouldn’t wait for someone to do it for us, that is why we have been using our little resources in promoting our work,” he said.

Similarly, for Mighty music had always been his passion though involved in a business outlet, young Mighty revealed that the trio had one or two albums in the market and their songs have been enjoying a great deal in most of the radio stations in the state and other neighbouring states. According to him, their music is to promote love, peace and harmony instead of promoting violence adding that they have begun to get promo deals with multinational companies due to the kind of genre they use as musicians.
