2019: Jigawa Dep Gov submits letter of intent

- From Aliyu Mohammed Hamagam, Dutse

The Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Barrister Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, has expressed interest to contest for the North-East senatorial seat of the state in the upcoming elections.

He made this known in a letter of intent he submitted to the Chairman of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Dutse, the state capital, yesterday. He said he was seeking to go to the Senate in 2019 since he was constitutionally limited to two terms as deputy governor.

Hadejia said his decision to contest was “borne out of several months of consultations and interaction with various groups and associates,” and the people of his senatorial zone “who have been consistent in expressing their desire to have a more focused and progressive representation at the senatorial level to ensure harmony with the executive branch, so that the APC government at the centre can fulfil its obligations to the Nigerian people.”

While thanking the party chairman and his team for their leadership and guidance, Hadejia promised to do his best in fostering harmony and cohesion within the APC in his pursuit of the senatorial seat.

“As my party chairman, I am sure you are proud of the harmonious and cordial partnership that has existed at the executive level between myself and the executive governor and the state party leadership as we diligently pursue the mandate of bringing positive change to Jigawa citizenry in the last three years,” the deputy governor said.

He pledged that he would continue to work at whatever capacity to sustain the tempo of accelerated development currently being championed by Governor Abubakar Badaru, and urged all stakeholders not to rest on their oars to achieve greater development of the state and her people.
