Group calls for peaceful conduct ahead of 2019
With the Not Too Young to Run Bill recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, a Southwest Muslim organisation, Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), has urged Muslim youths to abstain from any conduct that may threaten their future as leaders of Nigeria
It also urges them to participate actively in politics as the 2019 general elections are fast approaching.
The Executive Secretary/CEO of the organisation, Professor Dawud Noibi, who stated this at a press conference heralding the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the organisation held at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan, advised all Muslims to ensure they collected their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ahead of the closing date.
He said it is their civic and religious obligation to actively participate in all the stages of the political process, either as competent candidates or as active, well-informed electorate.
Earlier, the president of the organisation, Dr. Sakariyau Babalola, commended the leadership of the organisation for their commitment to the promotion of Islam.
He said the organisation in the last 10 years provided leadership and helped to enhance peace and unity among Muslim stakeholders in Southwest Nigeria.
