‘Stakeholders may be feeding fat on NFF leadership crisis’

- By David Ngobua

@Ngobuadavid A former Super Eagles assistant coach, Ben Duamlong has said he is tempted to believe that key football stakeholders are feeding fat on the ongoing leadership crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation.

It is now an open secret that since September 2014, Chris Giwa and Amaju Pinnick have laid claim to the leadership of the NFF.

While Giwa is holding unto a Jos High Court order to insist he is the authentic president of the NFF, Pinnick is enjoying the backing of the world football ruling body, FIFA.

Although the minister of sports has set up a 6-man reconciliation committee to look into the crisis and proffer solutions, Duamlong is of the opinion that major stake holders seem not committed to resolving the crisis.

He believes some stakeholders are fuelling the crisis in order to continue to benefit from the crisis why Nigerian football continues to suffer retrogression.

“It’s a huge surprise that with all the football Gurus, egg heads, technocrats, specialists etc, no one has initiated a move to reconcile the differences between President Amaju Pinnick and President Chris Giwa.

“Apart from those beating war drums in the two warring corners, a grave yard silence has taken full control of the football polity.

“I continue to struggle with the temptation of believing that some elders are feeding fat from this unfortunate crisis that is retrogressing our football back to the stone-age. How sad!” he lamented.
