A former Commissioner of Health in Borno State, Dr. Salma Anas Kolo, said yesterday that she wants to go to the Senate because the people of Borno South Senatorial district need a new person with fresh ideas and wider connections to attract basic privileges for them at national and international level. “Senator Ali Ndume has been in the House of Representatives for two terms and in the Senate for two terms; he has done his best and this is the time for him to move on.
Dr. Kolo said with her vast experience, she had all the skills, contacts and political will to attract physical infrastructure and expertise to support Borno South and the state at large get better in the areas of education, health, job opportunities.
“I’m a medical doctor by training, a public health specialist and a family person. I worked at different levels especially in the health sector development, including the World Health Organization (WHO) at the international level and projects funded by DFID. I reached the level of a director at the Federal Ministry of Health. While serving as commissioner and with active support from Governor Kashim Shettima, I interacted and positively impacted in the lives of our people in all the 27 local government areas of Borno. “And most importantly, the area I came from had never produced a senator, this is the time for our people to have a sense of belonging,” she said.
