Work for self-sufficiency, NIPC chairman urges youth
Chairman of the governing board of the Nigeria Investment and Promotion Commission (NIPC) and a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Babangida Nguroje, has urged participants at the two-day training course on cassava processing and pepper cultivation to take full advantage of the training to make themselves selfsufficient .
The training, organized by the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agriculture Sciences, was in collaboration with the Green Agriculture West African Limited company and featured five youth from Taraba central as well as stakeholders in the agricultural sector across the country.
Speaking at the event, Nguroje said, “We at the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, especially as the chairman, Governing Board of the NIPC have the enormous responsibility as bestowed by President Muhammadu Buhari to stabilize the economy, improve growth and development of Nigeria through attracting beneficial investments that will improve revenue of the government as well as create wealth and jobs.”
In his speech, the Deputy Director of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy, Professor LIU Haiquing, pointed out that the institute, as an affiliate to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, has signed 16 memorandum of understanding with organisations and institutions in African countries to carry out cooperative research and development on key issues in tropical agriculture.
