Imenger: Injuries not enough to stop Eagles’ flight against Seychelles
A former international and Team Manager of Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Barnabas Imenger has said injury worries in the camp of the Super Eagles won’t stop the team from beating Seychelles on Saturday.
At least three Super Eagles have been ruled out of this weekend’s 2019 AFCON qualifier due to different degrees of injuries.
The trio of Alex Iwobi of Arsenal, William TroostEkong of Udinese and Ola Aina of Torino won’t play any part in the must win match.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the former BCC Lions and El-Kanemi Warriors striker said Gernot Rohr has enough players to prosecute the match so there will be no excuse for failure.
He said going by the quality of players Nigeria is blessed with, there is no reason for anyone to lose so much sleep when few players are down with injuries.
He, however, warned that the Super Eagles shouldn’t underrate their opponents who are equally interested in making an impression in the qualifiers.
“It is true some players are injured but that is not enough to stop the Super Eagles from flying high against Seychelles.
“The coach has so many players at his disposal. If he can use them well, the team won’t feel the absence of these players.
“In as much as I do not want to believe the Pirates will stop the Eagles, I urge them to tread cautiously.
“There are no more minnows in world football. However, I still believe with or without injuries, Eagles will fly over Seychelles,” he stated.
