Teenager sentenced to 3 months community service

An Ogba magistrate Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday sentenced an 18-year- old man, Toheeb Sulaimon to a three-month community service at Agege town hall for phone theft.

Prosecutor, Sergent Kenrich Nomayo, however, arraigned the accuse on four count charges: “That you, Toheeb Sulaiman, male, on the 2nd of August 2018 at about 2:00am at No 9 Ogungbeyi Street, Olowora, Lagos, in Ikeja magisteria­l District did enter the room of one Yinusa Saheed, male, with intent to commit a felony, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 308(2) of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.

“That you, Toheeb Sulaiman, male, on the same date, time and place in the aforementi­oned magisteria­l district did steal one Tecno P701 handset valued at N40,000:00 property of one Yinusa Saheed, male, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 287 of the criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015. That you, Toheeb Suliaman, male, on the same date ,time and place in the aforementi­oned magisteria­l district did steal one Blackberry­Z10 handset valued at 25,000:00, property of one Obiti Christophe­r, and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under section 287 of the criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015. That you Toheeb Sulaiman on the same date, time and place in the aforementi­oned magisteria­l district did steal one infinix X510, hot 4, handset valued at N25,000:00 and one LG K7 handset valued at N30,000:00, property of one Oyewunmi Joel Akinola, and hereby committed an offence of contrary to and punishable under the section 287 of the criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The accused however pleaded guilty to the charges.

The magistrate, Mrs T.O Ojo, thereby sentenced him to months community service to serve as deterrent to others.
