- From Temitayo Odunlami, Lagos

Chi Farms Limited, a subsidiary of TGI Group, in partnership with ZOETIS, a global animal healthcare company and representative of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Africa, will today commission its City Laboratory, an ultra-modern animal care veterinary centre, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Chi Farms’ City Laboratory was established to improve livestock health in Nigeria through production and supply of quality medicines and to offer veterinary consultations to local farmers.

A statement yesterday from the company’s publicist, Ayodele Ogunojemite, said the project is aimed at establishing sustainable veterinary diagnostic networks and animal health infrastructure in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.

The General Manager of Chi Farms Limited, Dr Tunji Olaitan, stated that despite Chi Farms’ being the most successful grandparent integrator for meat and layer lines in the poultry industry, it had progressively evolved to consistently offer Nigerian livestock farmers premium products and services.

According to Olaitan, CHI Farms’ selection as one of Nigeria’s two executors of Project ALPHA by ZOETIS, was a welcome development, “as the organization is always willing to form alliances with like minds in order to create value for our farmers and ultimately the nation.”
