I’ll challenge Badaru for APC ticket – Ubale Yusuf

- From Yusha’u A. Ibrahim, Kano

A chieftain of the APC in Jigawa State, Alhaji Hashim Ubale Yusuf, has said that he is contesting for governorship in 2019 to correct the anomalies of the incumbent governor of the state, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

Speaking to Daily Trust in Kano yesterday, Yusuf alleged that governance in Jigawa State had taken a dimension that was different from that specified in the manifesto and Constitution of APC.

He said: “I felt deviating from the core values of the APC is unfair to the electorate and therefore decided to join the race to try to bring out opportunities that I felt should go to my people.

Ubale Yusuf, who said he would contest against Badaru for the APC ticket, added that “The present government never had a blue print on how to govern.”

He claimed that the Badaruled administration in Jigawa had failed in the areas of agriculture, health, education, economy and security.

“Government never intervened in the activities of farmers since it assumed office in 2015. Our farmers recorded huge losses in 2016 and 2017 due to early stoppage of rainfall and poor harvest; but government never cared to come to their aid,” he also claimed.

He alleged that the administration was not carrying members of the ruling APC along in governing the state, lamenting that many politicians who contributed in the formation of the government had been abandoned.

Asked on efforts he made to intervene, Yusuf said, “I have made several efforts in that respect but the governor did not heed to all my advice. It has gone to an extent that I opted for posting some of these pieces of advice on my Facebook account for those in power to see and effect the correction, but all in vain.”
