I’ll rejig Nigeria’s architecture — Tambuwal

- By Saawua Terzungwe

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has said that he is seeking the ticket of PDP to vie for the presidency in order to restructure Nigeria and rejig its security architecture.

The governor specifically said his administration would evolve scientific measures to stem the security challenges bedevilling the country.

He said his administration would create independent spirit in youths to pursue, develop their potentials and in turn become employers of labour.

Tambuwal who unveiled his agenda yesterday in Abuja, at a meeting with PDP delegates in the North Central and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), explained that restructuring Nigeria was paramount to re-create a sense of unity among the people.

“We need to restructure this country because the country has never been this divided. The country has never been enmeshed with the kind of current security challenge it has as at today.

“I believe in restructuring Nigeria. The people of the South South are asking for restructuring based on the understanding that oil wealth be properly applied in their respective places. Nothing is wrong with that. Let us judiciously apply the oil wealth and develop this country.

“This aspiration is fired and motivated by the spirit of service and the spirit to take back our country and reunite our people. And to reposition our country for it to be properly restructured to the benefit of Nigerians,” he said.

The governor who asked the delegates to vote him at the October 6 convention of the PDP as presidential candidate for the 2019 general elections, said he would unite “the divided nation if given the mandate.”
