Two persons were yesterday alleged to have been stabbed to death by suspected armed robbers during a robbery operation in Edo State.

It was gathered that the incident happened when gunmen raided Amenze Street and environs off Costain Road, New Benin, Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the robbers, who moved from house to house dispossessing residents of their belongings, inflicted injuries on anyone who did not give them money.

The wife of one of the victims, Mrs. Erhun Ogiorio, told journalists that when the robbers stormed their house, she pleaded with them not to kill her husband but they refused.

“When they entered our house, one of them held a gun and another held a knife. I told them that my husband was a civil servant and that we don’t have money. I gave them phones but they stabbed my husband in the stomach and the chest,” she said.

A victim who craved anonymity, said he was dispossessed of N70,000 by the robbers after serious beating.

Responding, the state police command’s spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, a DSP, said it was a case of cult clash that was reported at the station.
